If you hear one name over and over again along with the term power skating , it is most likely that of National Hockey League defenceman Paul Coffey. Because Coffey was able to utilize his full speed and power when he was on the ice, he became known as one of the fastest defencemen to ever grace the ice in the game of hockey. Coffey isn t the only player to use his natural ability to its fullest advantage, however; names like Pavel Bure, Teemu Selanne, and others will also be associated with the Leagues speediest skaters for some time to come.
The key with these players is in part their natural gifts in terms of athleticism, but in order to really achieve their pinnacle, they had to understand how to bring their natural skill into play. The way that they did so was to fully examine, probably always with the help of others, their skating techniques and the way in which they could go from one speed to the next. In essence, this was power skating, and today players wonder if the focus put on power skating will allow them to improve their games.
The answer to that question is a most definite yes. Adding that extra power to your skating stride will mean that you have a lot more edge in terms of speed and control, not to mention the power that you can put behind a shot. Power skating training focuses on the two areas that will most affect your skating abilities, your edge control and your knee bend.
The knee bend is the most important focus in any power skating training, as it is the bend of the knee that will determine all other important skating factors. Most people realize this instinctively, but power skating training will help players to really understand how they can make sure to bend their knees as deeply as possible while concentrating on other facets of their game.
The second aspect of power skating training, edge control, concentrates on having the player feel the edge of their skate almost as if it were an extension of their body. Edge control means understanding how your ankles are working in relation to your knees and the rest of your leg that is putting the power into your skate. Again, angle is of the utmost importance, so power skating will focus the individual player on getting the optimum edge on their skates.
Power skating training is a must for any hockey player wishing to take their game to the next level, just by improving their skating technique. For more information on this article or an Ontario hockey tournament, visit CHEHockey.com
RC cars, RC boats, RC planes, RC helicopters can come in many forms. In fact, RC means different things to different people. It can mean Radio Control, Remote Control, Radio Controlled, or Remote Controlled. Overall it is essentially the same thing. The controller is operated via battery power. The vehicle, aircraft, or boat itself may be electric, or nitro gas powered. The RC world can range from the inexpensive toy version, to the expensive and often fragile, true experienced hobbyist version. There are ready to run (RTR), or ready to fly (RTF) versions as well as the assembly required versions. Additionally, there are the Almost Ready to Run or Almost Ready to Fly versions which require minimal assembly.
The RC car world is popular. RC buggy s and RC trucks are also popular. Some major manufacturers of RC cars, RC buggy s, and RC trucks including replacement parts and accessories are ABC Hobby Co., LTD., Associated Electrics, Inc., Astro Flight, CEN Racing, Du-Bro Products, Dynamite, Fantom Racing Motors, Futuba, GS Racing, HobbyTech, Inc., Hot Bodies, HobbyZone, HardCore Racing Components, Hobby Products International (HPI), HiTec RCD Inc., Integy, JR, Team Losi, Inc., McCoy Glow Plugs, Megatech, OFNA Racing Division, Parma, Sullivan Products, Sportwerks, Tamiya America, Inc., Traxxas, TRC, Team Trinity, Team Sorex, and Venom Group International.
RC airplanes or RC planes for short, often include RC helicopters made by the same manufacturers. These manufacturers are: Astro Flight, Du-Bro Products, E-Flite, Fantom Racing Motors, Fliton, Fourmost Products, Fox Engines, Futuba, Goldberg Models, GS Racing, Grand Wing System U.S.A., Hangar 9, Hot Bodies, HobbyZone, HiTec RCD Inc., Herr Engineering Corporation, Integy, JR, Major Decals, McCoy Glow Plugs, Megatech, ParkZone, Sullivan Products, and Venom Group International.
RC boats are another popular RC hobby. Some manufacturers of RC boat products including accessories and parts are ABC Hobby Co., LTD., Astro Flight, CEN Racing, Cyclon Electronic Model, Du-Bro Products, HobbyZone, Horizon Hobby Distributors, Megatech, Pro Boat, Sullivan Products, Tamiya America, Inc., and Traxxas.
RC cars, RC boats, RC airplanes, RC helicopters, all require radios, engines and sometimes tools, parts, paints, and adhesives. Radios, engines, tools, parts, paints, and adhesives are available from most of the following manufacturers: ABC Hobby Co., LTD., Associated Electrics, Inc., Astro Flight, CEN Racing, Du-Bro Products, Dynamite, E-Flite, Fantom Racing Motors, Hangar 9, Hot Bodies, HobbyZone, Hobby Products International (HPI), JR, Team Losi, Inc., McCoy Glow Plugs, Megatech, OFNA Racing Division, Orion USA, Parma, Sullivan Products, Sportwerks, Tamiya America, Inc., Traxxas, TRC, Team Trinity, Venom Group International, E-Flite, Fliton, Fourmost Products, Fox Engines, Goldberg Models, Hangar 9, Major Decals, ParkZone, and Pro Boat.
Ready to Run (RTR) and Ready to Fly (RTF), RC cars, RC buggies, RC trucks, RC airplanes, and RC boats are a lot of fun to use and come ready to enjoy right out of the box. Whether your RC is electric or is nitro gas powered, the fun can continue for a long time. When you decide to purchase a radio control car, or remote control airplane, you should know that it isn t as easy as it seems. It takes practice to operate your remote control car or radio control aircraft to build your skills. RC trucks and RC buggies can be run on dirt or can be used to race just like RC cars. Fly fishing is one of the fastest growing sports at the moment. Men and women both enjoy it and many participants say that the feeling they get from catching a fish is extraordinary. To be successful at fly fishing, it is necessary to have the proper equipment. One of the most important components of a fly fishing rig is the fishing reel. People who go to a large sporting goods store will be amazed by how many reels are there. The fly reel is very important because it dictates how much control the fisher will have over the line. The most important thing to take into consideration is matching the reel with the individual fisher s particular needs and fishing style. The reel must be sized for the line that is to be used. Several models allow the use of multiple line sizes. Also, different types of reels have different spool lengths. Some fly fishing reels provide a full rotation of the reel with just one crank of the handle while others provide more rotations of the spool with one handle turn. Another important factor is the size of the center of the reel, also called the arbor. The size of the arbor is important because it determines how easy it is to reel in a fish once it is caught. Fly fishing reels with larger arbors make it easier to wheel in the catch with fewer rotations. Also, the drag system (resistance placed on the line) is very important and mostly adjustable on most reels. The material used to construct the reel is also worth taking into consideration, since some materials are better for salt water because they are more resistant to corrosion. To sum up, it is important to carefully choose a fly fishing reel, as a poor reel can frustrate even the most talented fly fisher. People who do not know what to choose should talk to an expert to point them in the right direction.Fly Fishing Flies provides detailed information on Fly Fishing Flies, Fly Fishing Gear, Fly Fishing Knots, Fly Fishing Reels and more. 1. Quick head-to head comparison. There is no need to overestimate this factor IMO, but we can definately find “inconvenient” opponents, this can be very useful if two different class players are going to meet.
Example: Roger Federer - Mariano Zabaleta.
H2H analysis shows, that for Federer-Zabaleta match a good stake will be Total Over(N Games), where N is up to 20 games.
2. Determine whether the player is right-handed or left-handed. Practice shows that this factor is very significant it tennis match analysys. To find out technical details about the player, apply to official ATP site and enter the name of a player.
Example: Alejandro Falla(COL) is a low-ranked player, but he has an awesome record against left-handed players 11-0! This makes him a tough opponent for more high-ranked lefthanders, such as Gilles Muller or Feliciano Lopez.
3. Recent performance of the player. Look up, for example, the last month performance. Quality players does not lose to class-lower players. One loss can be accidental, but 2 or more such losses are showing really bad form.Loosing the sets by “1-6″ or “0-6″, loosing the match having won the first set are also very suspicious, often it means physical problems.
4. Statistics analysis. It is very useful, and many discoveries can be made with it. Second serve points won - this parameter shows the quality of play, because the second serve is always more slower than the first one, and real gameplay begins. We know, that so-called “big-serves” don t like long rallies, their style is a powerful first serve, net approaches and 1-2 powerful strikes and a point won. These sort of players face severe problems on 2nd serve when they meet with good players which can hold the ball in play. If 2nd serve points won percent is less than 50, this player is worth to play against. Generally, statistics should not be overestimated, but I use it to find serve -dependent players; when the serve weakens, these players become very vulnerable.
5. Performance on this tournament and this country. Another important factor to be considered. Many players have their preferences and places they like to go. A good performance in a selected coutry is a good sign. Tournament history appearance is also important, because ATP Race pints should be defended by the player.
6. Coming from one surface to another. It is well known that the most hard transfers are from claycours to hardcours (outdoor hard, indoor hard, carpet and grass) and vice versa.
7. Long distance travels, comint from one continent to another. First of all, this is connected with acclimatization problems. A good bet may be on player, which is already “warmed-up” in this region against the traveller.
8. Playing against some category - Top10, Top25, Top50 etc. This must be taken into consideration when totals and handicaps are analyzed. For example, we are examining a handicap +6 on a low ranked player against Top50 player. If this player fights hard against Top50 (70-80% of losses are tight), the handicap is worth trying.
9. Playing against some nationality. Not very significant point, but sometimes worth to see in order to get more confidense to the bet.
10. Playing as qualifier or against qualifiers. Important factor, because many qualifiers (players who passed through qualifying rounds) make sensations in the first rounds. Sensations happen when such warmed-up qualifier meets players which have recently arrived in this coutry and have problems with acclimatization.

The next world cup is scheduled to begin in March 2007, but the buzz and the excitement can be already seen everywhere. Every Cricket lover eagerly waits for this mega event that is conducted after every four years. It is the battlefield for supremacy in the cricket world and cricketers all over the world look forward to this event to stamp their authority. The current world champions Australia are favored by many to win the coveted title again. But there are many more contenders to this title. The world cup is organized every four years by crickets governing body the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The 2007 world cup will be held in West Indies and cricket fans can expect some real fireworks from their favorite players during the event. On current form, Australia appears to be the favorite to lift the world cup, especially after their convincing win in the ICC Champions Trophy 2006 which as titled as Mini World Cup. But cricket is a game of glorious uncertainties and this is the beauty of the game. No one actually knows who will win the cup and everyone is busy with their own theories and guessing games.
Australia has won the world cup thrice, the highest number of times among all the teams that will be competing. So they will surely be looking forward to continue the winning streak. Host West Indies have won it twice and they would love to make it a hat-trick this time, especially when they will be playing in front of the home crowd in and also in the conditions that would suit them. Perhaps this is the best chance for the windies to bring back the cup. Other than these two teams. there are many serious contenders for the cup this time, so competition is going to be really tough this time. And whichever team is able to handle pressure well, will come up triumphs in the world cup.
South Africa, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and New Zealand all have bright chances of winning the world cup. Preparations are in full swing by all the teams to take a shot at winning the cup. For many players, this world cup could well be their last appearance in any world cup. Some of the player s aged above 30 and this may well be their last shot at winning the world cup for their country. The Australian team has many players who are above not only 30, but also above 35 years of age. Some see this as the main disadvantage, but the Aussies are a real hard nut to crack especially when they face adverse conditions.
Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Ricky Ponting and several other leading batsmen will try their outmost to lay their hands on the world cup. It is difficult to predict who will win the world cup, due to the emergence of new players. These new and upcoming players have completely changed the face of the game. For Shaun Pollock, Glen McGrath and Anil Kumble (if selected) this may well be their last world cup. So many players and many teams have lots of things at stake during this world cup. One thing is for sure, fans will be entertained with good cricket all around, during the world cup cricket 2007.

You re in the casino, lights are flashing, electronic machines are chiming, you have a pocketful of money, and your heart races as the excitement builds. You see the craps tables in the distance. Your pace quickens. The three people at one table are quiet; not much action. The 15 people at the other table are cheering, laughing, clapping, high-fiving, and hugging each other. You think, “Wow, that table must be hot.”
There s one open spot at the end by the fat guy. You think, “I don t know if I can squeeze into that spot. I ll wait for another one.” Before you finish your thought, someone dashes into that last open position, squeezing in sideways between the fat guy and the drunk with a cigarette hanging off his lip. You think, “Oh, man, that guy took my spot. That s okay, I ll get the next one.”
You stand in the background, jockeying for position to see the action. You count the number of players on each side of the table, confirming that no more players can squeeze in. The shooter is on fire. She rolls number after number. A drunk yells, “Winner, winner, chicken dinner!” The gorgeous woman on the other side of the drunk is thrilled and hugging everyone at that end of the table. The players chip racks are filling up with red, green, and black chips. You wait. You watch. No one leaves. You continue watching. Everyone wins gobs of money. Except you.
What just happened here? Fear. You re new to the game; you re not sure of what to do; you let fear take control. Not enough room by the fat guy was just an excuse for not taking the only open position at a hot table. The result–you lost out on winning tons of money.
It s natural, it happens to everyone. If you ve never played craps, you ll probably be scared crapless (pun intended) of walking up to the table, plopping down your money, and making that first bet. It feels worse if you have to do it alone without someone to guide you or give you confidence.
Accept it. You ll be nervous the first time. But don t let it keep you from playing. After about 10 minutes, your fear will be gone and you ll laugh and holler with everyone else. Just take a deep breath, walk up to the table, and get over your fear.
Now you know!
I ve known Helen for years and she s been in charge of a Kuk Sool Won class for the past two. Helen s great, she s tough, she s smart, and her school turns out responsible martial artists that can throw one of heck of a punch. I was in the area and due to take Helen out for lunch, so I showed up early and attended one of her late morning classes. I was a little surprised; it s been a while since I ve done any Kuk Sool Won training and I certainly didn t remember some of the drills we were using. After we d showered and settled down at our favorite Thai place, I inquired about it.
“So what s up with the machine gun sidekicks?” I asked. “Isn t that usually more of a Tae Kwon Do exercise?”
With machine gun sidekicks, you stand on one leg and throw a kick while jumping up just enough to let the force drag your standing leg forward. This makes you move in the direction of your kick, though it s not a traveling move, like jump kick. Helen had started us on one side of the dojo and made us move across the floor. If you re not used to them, they can take a real toll and even sitting in the air-conditioned restaurant, I could feel the burn up my thighs.
“It keeps things interesting,” she smiled and when I confirmed that she just wasn t being a sadist, she continued.
“If you want keep your students interested, you need more than just the normal or traditional martial arts drills. People get bored with just a set that they do every time they come in, and after a while, doing the same repetitive exercises will stop having the effect that it had at the beginning.”
“Makes sense,” I agreed. “So what other drills do you like to use with your students?”
“I like pulling drills from a bunch of different places,” she replied. “Ones that make you travel are good, because you know everyone s exerting themselves the same amount. Crocodile walks, where you lie face down and move across the floor without letting your torso touch the ground, help with body control and general strength training. Don t underestimate basic exercises like lunges to get you warmed up.
“One of my favorites is having everyone stand up straight, put their hands behind their head and lift up one knee to touch their chest before lowering and doing the other, sort of like you re marching. Doing about 25 reps of each leg gets you warmed up and is terrific for developing kicks.”
I winced, rubbing my sore muscles. “All that and you still run a class afterwards.”
“You bet.” She grinned. “Trust me, it makes for much more entertaining practices.”
Blackjack Basic Strategy, played perfectly in a game with favorable rules, will reduce the edge against you to about one half of one percent, the best odds of any game in the casino.
But still - it s a negative edge. While you can win in the short term on any given day, in the long term that one half percent edge against you will eventually grind you down if you play long enough and frequently enough.
An advanced basic strategy - or what we call Basic Strategy Plus - is necessary for you to step up from being a casual player to being a serious recreational player who has a better chance of winning over the long term.
To reduce the small edge against you with Basic Strategy even further, and at times even turn it into a positive edge in your favor, you simply must pay attention to the cards on the table and develop some sense of the proportion of high cards versus low cards remaining in the deck. This is exactly what a card counter does.
But you don t have to spend the hundreds of hours it takes to become a proficient card counter. You can get a general sense of the proportion of high versus low cards by doing something called “counting the table”. Counting the table simply means that in any given hand, you look at the exposed cards for all hands on the table (including the dealer s hand). Do a quick count of all the high cards (tens, jacks, queens, kings) and all the low cards (2 - 5). There are an equal number of these high and low cards.
If there are a much larger number of low cards showing than high cards (at least 6 more low cards than high cards in a six deck game), chances are that the deck now is slightly richer in high cards, which is favorable for the player. Conversely, if there are many more high cards showing than low cards (again, at least six more), chances are the deck is now slightly richer in low cards, which is bad for the player.
Armed with the information gained from this quick table count, you can now adjust your play accordingly and thus be playing a little more like a professional.
For example, there are some basic strategy moves that are so close that they could go either way. If you are doing a table count, you have additional information that may indicate a change in what basic strategy says to do in certain of these close call situations.
To illustrate, let s take the example of one of the most dreaded hands in Blackjack: your 16 count versus the dealers 10 up card. Basic strategy says to hit your 16 against a dealer s 10, but this is an extremely close call. You very badly need a 4 or 5 in order to tie or win if the dealer also has a 10 card down.
So, using the table count, here s what you do. If the table count shows at least 6 more lows than highs, then stand on your 16 against a 10. A disproportionate amount of low cards have been dealt and this lowers your odds of getting a low card to point where you should now stand with your 16.
There are several more close calls with Basic Strategy that can be refined further with Basic Strategy Plus, as well as other decisions that can now be made more intelligently and these are explained in detail on the author s web site.
Good luck!
A popular golf cliche that seems to appear in print and video often is Drive For Show and Putt for Dough. If you play regularly, you ve probably heard it uttered by your playing companions, probably the one who has just drained a long putt to win the weekend wagers or someone who can t keep up off the tee… but is it really true?
On the surface, you might say that putting is far more important than driving the golf ball simply due to the fact that the average person in the course of a round generally has only 14 attempts to hit a drive, while the same player player will attempt somewhere in the neighborhood of 32 putts per round. I believe this analysis is misleading especially for mid to high handicappers and beginners.
Here s why!
Your tee shot sets you up on every hole up to either post a good score or a bad one. Nowhere in golf, are the penalties more severe than when you re driving the golf ball.
For example..you re playing a 300 yard par four hole, straight away, no trouble to speak of except out of bounds to the right side of the fairway. If you hit a good tee shot, 200 yards down the middle of the fairway, you have set yourself up for a short iron approach which should yield a score of at worst 5 and possibly even a 3 or 4.
BUT….if you slice the ball out of bounds to the right, you re still standing there with your driver in hand but now you re playing your third shot from the tee box. You have effectively, with a poor tee shot, taken a sure 5 or a probable 4 and turned it into at least 6, more likely 7, or even worse 8, 9, or 10 should you drive the ball out of bounds again.
The stroke and distance penalty imposed for driving the ball out of bounds and for losing your golf ball make accurate tee shots an absolute necessity if you want to shoot good scores.
This is why it s so important to drive the golf ball well.
Having said that, there is no part of the game that will allow you to shave strokes off your score like good putting. Most players can save at least 5 shots per round just by avoiding 3 putts and making everything from 3 feet in.
Bottom line, both aspects of the game, driving and putting, are essential to shooting good scores and you should work equally hard on your full swing and short game.
